Exactly. If a LHP varies the timing of his delivery, combined with proper timing of stepping off the rubber, he can withhold the run-game much more easily than any RHP. It doesn’t matter how often you actually throw.
So the pitcher shouldn’t get credit for retiring a baserunner, just because the runner was 20 feet away from the base at the time of the throw, rather than 25 millimeters?
