If you don't trust the home tests, find the nearest clinic and get a test. My local clinic charged $5, no appointment needed, and the results were within 20 minutes. Plus, you get to talk to a counselor with the results. I was told that early pregnancies (like 4-5 weeks) can give iffy results on home tests.

Dollar Stores are another excellent resource for free boxes. In my area, they have bunches of boxes in rolling containers near the back, and as long as you don't leave a mess, they are up for grabs. The sizes tend to be a larger variety then the normal liquor store option.
