Underpowered depends on the user. I can do OK runnign a 4 year old Compaq desktop at work with 1 GB of Ram since our programs aren't that extensive. My guess is tat a hipster is just watching Hulu or writing on a basic notepad so I think the "underpowered" laptop is probably doing just fine ;)

True. Granted I've used my 4G signal extensively since I've rooted my phone. But when there's no 4G, it's pretty miserable without WiFi.

You buy an unlocked one? They are going for pretty cheap on Ebay (think $150) . Now if you got in on contract, take it back TODAY and get a HSPA+ Phone since you're getting ripped off otherwise. It maybe free now, but you're paying $2000 over two years, an extra $100 for a good phone isn't going to look too bad.

While I respect this, and am jealous of it when you think about it, it's what makes this different that makes it so unsafe. People will put a bullseye on this house to just try and break in or at the very least spray paint it somehow.

Gizmo - you're niave to think this won't work! I know the company I'm at pays mega $$$ for Windows XP desktop machines that have the specs of a $200 laptop just so they can control everything top to bottom. I'm sure many companies will pay the $$$ for control over what people do.
