Good call, now I’ll just have to find one around Chicago that isn’t a POS or has been turned into a drift-bro-mobile.
I was also thinking of something more “off-road” potentially, like an XJ or similar.
I like to wrench, but don’t like chasing things like electrical gremlins and I don’t have a huge garage or access to unlimited tools. What is a good vehicle to get as my hobby? I have a couple motorcycles (GS500) that I’ve resuscitated after previous owners mistreated them, but what’s next?
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and one nearby suburb required any car parked on the street after dusk to use its parking lights. I knew this was true well into the 80's, but I don’t think it is the case anymore.
The town, Riverside, was designed by FL Olmsted, and still used gas street lights. I remember…

Whoa now... let’s not get carried away. I say we begin with bright red, then maybe space blue and work our way through the yellows first before we discuss teal.
A Pulsar...
Take your damn star, you monster.
“I have had, in other words, a lot of time to contemplate the deep stupidity of taking out a loan on an asset that begins depreciating immediately.”
Blaine is a pain, and that is the truth.
I’ll let you crash on my couch while you’re here if you get me out of the grays.
The first time I drove an RHD car was in Scotland. It was a rental and manual transmissions were $30-40 cheaper per day than automatics. I had a Fiat 500 that I was driving down tiny Edinburgh streets, from the wrong side of the car, shifting with the wrong hand and driving on the wrong side of the street.
For some reason, they felt they needed to add tire smoke to one of the Mercedes stunts, and that always distracts me. Other than that...one of my favs.
What’s the color of the boathouse at Hereford?
It was a good movie at the time, but the style and pace of movies in that era were totally different. I just think it didn’t age well. I went on a movie marathon a few years back watching a bunch of these like Vanishing Point, Thief, French Connection and so on. They all had a very similar pace which I am not used to…
Kids toy? I’m buying one for my wife!
I’ll bet you can’t even count the number of dicks that were drawn on it.
When the ad says “rust free” but the Carfax reveals it was registered in Michigan.
Engine braking is fine, but don’t use the clutch to slip into a lower gear and manage the revs. That’s using your clutch as a brake, and that is stupid.
Why am I not surprised to see this kind of behavior from a Napleton dealership, the same group that did this:
I can tell that same story, only mine ends with “...and that’s the cheap way to turn an S-10 pickup into a stepside.”
Glad you’re OK. Welcome to the club. We have patches.
