Shawn Levy IS the “workmanlike” director. Most of his filmography is “forgettable, big studio milquetoast PG/PG-13 light comedies”.

I would’ve expected Shawn Levy to be the person they calling after firing someone else.
I know there was just some moderately successful movies based on It, but I really think a Flanagan miniseries based on It would be excellent. *
How was the Pet Semetary remake? I missed it since it was a pandemic movie and I haven’t seen it pop up on my streaming services. Was it at least ok, like the original?
Somebody make The Long Walk, please. Cheap as shit to make, too.
It’s been decades since I read that one but it was definitely a departure, so much that I’d call it science fiction rather than straight horror. Definitely an interesting concept. Especially the idea that the real parasite was completely mental or at least bodiless somehow. So that the ship that crashed on earth was…
I think he’s great at describing characters. He’s great at describing everything! It’s just when they start moving around and interacting with each other rather than sitting still for him to paint a word portrait they come off a bit clunky and stilted. It really shows in how awkward romantic relationships between his c…
Precisely. Without the death, it really doesn’t differentiate itself from any other elimination style reality competition. I’m still interested, but without death being on the line, it’s really not much different than something like Big Brother or Ninja Warrior. At least with something like Big Brother there’s a true…
I agree — I’ve always found his characters to be amazing, but a fair bit of the time he really doesn’t manage to stick the ending.
The No Great Loss Chapter was amazing. Good call.
My favorite chapter was the one from the POV of the dog. Has me in tears each time I read it.
No, it’s based on the fact that Europe has a large space industry of their own, but both of the rockets they could use to launch Galileo satellites, are out of commission.
Two reasons:
I read Tommyknockers when I was 15, and liked it, so I didn’t understand the hate for it, later I just chalked it up to being a kid when I read it and didn’t know any better, but I still don’t think it was as bad as some people say. I read it through the eyes of a child however so 🤷♂️.
Oh shit, someone else who liked Tommyknockers!
I mean Tommyknockers has a mad breathless energy to it , which was probably because he was running purely on cocaine and beer while writing it. And weirdly the idea of something that gives you power to create all sorts of weird stuff you never would have done on your own , but ultimately destroys you and tries to…
Now you know why the production is delayed. They’re going to push it way out, stop talking about it, and hope nobody remembers. Meanwhile they’ll probably announce some other new vehicle that Musk will actually allow real engineers to design and say production is coming “in a year” to keep their market price up.
Some of Ford’s most popular models (Maverick and Bronco Sport) are made in northern Mexico. It takes time to build factories and get them up to production, but I definitely see more production moving across the border in the future.
Thanks for the tip. It’s working great.
It is phase 1. It isn't even designed to test efficacy, just determine maximum tolerated dose.
