The pass the baton scene is just so wantonly cruel, it makes Madoka Magica look like fucking Sailor Moon in terms of defying expectations in a genre decomposition.

Exactly.
For you maybe but for everyone that wants to play games on a high competitve level it’s expected. It’s maybe not the most fun part of it but after it’s done you can have more fun again.
There is a big difference between “one year of polish” and looking extremely bad at the moments you want to show your fans and backers your progress. You don’t need to make bullshots but at least polish the things you want to show to a certain degree to make it look like the finished product more or less. At least…

They are updating and they are handling their project better than Ys Net does Shenmue 3 for example but it still seems like it will never get done. Sure, that’s no classic vaporware but... similar.
Then look at the (as of now) 94 kickstarter updates and look how much of them show actual noticeable progress. Maybe 4-5 of those actually do that. (and even then the most recent screenshots and trailers still look bad)
Exactly. I like Nomura even if he did.... some mistakes (like overcomplicating the story of Kingdom Hearts even though it was unnecessary) but he is not at fault with the long development times of XV, KH3 and FFVIIR. (also yes, he didn’t even know that he was going to be the director for it until its reveal)
Did you read my comment? If you put most of your home console devs on one project (and let them develop new engines at the same time like Crystal Tools for FFXIII or the Luminous Engine for XV) the other projects aren’t getting done of course. The only thing we know of that slowed down one of his three most recent…

“Except that it isn’t actually completely Nomuras fault but however does the planing at SE. Work on Versus XIII/FFXV was slowed down because most of the staff was working on FFXIII to get that done, then after it’s annoucement development on KH3 was slowed down severely because most of the staff was working on FFXV.
More copypasta for everyone!
Except that it’s development seems to be a huge mess and it seems like it will be finished in 30 years.

I would even say that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will still be vaporware even if the “new” BGAE 2 gets released because it feels nothing like the game that was announced 12 years ago(? When was BGAE 2 originally announced again?)
Except that they aren’t.
I’m a fan and I don’t want that.
