That's a good point.  The UK Office did actually acknowledge and play with the conceit that there was really a documentary filmed/aired.  That said, I suppose I'll just have to agree to disagree.

Largely agreed, and I was going to comment about that same excerpt if no one else did.  One drawback of the documentary format is that events and conversations will conveniently/unrealistically occur in front of the documentary camera.

"Neil’s just as much a smarmy bastard as ever. "

You overestimate people
"But when roughly two-thirds of your running time is taken up by stuff most people know already, there's not really a good reason to be doing the blitz."

Tosh
Tosh has a solid stand-up background with some good specials/CDs, and he's on a show mocking of youtube videos. The show is a combo of Sarah Silverman-like ironic sexist/racist/mean jokes, The Soup "riff on a video clip" format, and the limitless well of human depravity that is youtube.

Disagree with "a weirdly good boss in some aspects"
Admittedly it's been a year or two since the last time I watched the UK Office, but I don't recall any of these positive aspects. David was all about the promotion and closing of the Slough office until his physical, which he then tried to pass off as intentionally

Office UK
Good write-up.

@anyaroses

BSG is another favorite, though I can't put it in the same category as the HBO shows and Mad Men. I liked it best in the early days, where one or two Cyclons were near-insurmountable. By the end, everyone's capping them left and right like they're stormtroopers.

@Michael P.

I adored Freaks and Geeks on first viewing, but they don't have much repeat value for me. I can cycle through Sopranos, Deadwood, Wire, Rome, and Band of Brothers in perpetuity.

HBO shows
It's a cliche at this point, but nearly all of my all-time favorite shows are HBO shows. Is that true for most people here? In no particular order, I absolutely love Deadwood, The Wire, The Sopranos, and Rome. I also really like(d) Game of Thrones, Band of Brothers (haven't watched The Pacific yet), Mr.

I like Whitecaps and I've found many great moments in Tony's marriage, but honestly I don't care that much about it. Carmella puts up with Tony for monetary & social gain, and Tony puts up with Carmella because of tradition and because he can do whatever he wants on the side without giving her up. Beyond the

You can't delve too deep into the "would that actually work" stuff on this show. The cops would probably issue citations after a warning or two, which Tony's guys wouldn't give a crap about.

Favorite Sopranos upper-middle class douchebag character
The lawyer who sells Whitecaps to Tony. He's a dick and he never suffers any substantive harm, so there's no guilt in rooting against him.

Titus Pullo ftw

Janice
Janice has almost no redeeming qualities as a human being. "Almost" meaning I can't think of any.

I can't even tell if Jackie Jr. was a bad actor, because his character was so vapid. Lots of people are so vapid that you would accuse them of being bad actors if they were playing themselves on television.

Carmela & Furio
I tend to think that Carmela's infatuation with Furio just highlights how complicit she is in the whole mob life. She has to know that Furio is a monster among monsters, and probably even that he was brought to America for the express purpose of being violent on a daily basis. She willfully ignores

Good stuff
I enjoyed this episode more than I've enjoyed any Office episode in years. I'm not on board at all with the "it was very funny, but not good" point of view. It's a comedy, the point is to be funny and make me laugh, which this episode did moreso than any episode I can recall in the last few seasons. If I
