Uber can be replaced at any time with an other taxi app without really changing anything about the end product which is why many of the same drivers drive for both Uber and Lyft.

But if that self-driving technology isn’t Uber’s own technology and it looks like it won’t be then they still only have an easily replicable taxi app plus a brand name. They’ve spent billions to make it a household name but they have very little of actual value besides the name.
