Well I agree. Sinead took steps to avoid the "sexy female pop singer" image and produced brilliant, moving, sometimes politically charged music and lyrics, the focus was kept on that. You just don't see this too much now.

Amy Adams is terrific but JJ was not certainly not conventionally pretty, had a bad complexion and a large nose. She always felt ugly and it played a big part in her psyche as a woman. Can Hollywood cast an actress for once that is not "pretty" and match the appearance of the real life person?

Gosh I remember when her book Ordeal came out in the early 1980s. It was dismissed as attention seeking. It wasn't pretty, she recounts being forced to film sex with dogs, anal rape as punishment, gang bangs etc etc. courtesy of this Chuck Traynor fellow. Looks like these bits are not making it into the movie.
