This is so depressing.

It was like ten days between when my brother died and when he was buried. I wanted to rush it because of my grief, but my family knew better.  I don’t know how families can do this stuff in under a week even when it’s pre-planned.

My mon died on July 7, the funeral was set for July 19th. When one of my best friends went to ask her boss (white dude) for the day off, he was very confused as to how shew knew someone was going to be dead the following week. She had to break down how the from death to burial timeline works for Black folks.

It’s gonna be at least a week before the family stops fighting long enough to write the obituary.
