I bought a new 1968 Cortina GT and it was a great car, but they did not sell well. While I also lamented the demise of the Cortina in the US, the Pinto sold in much larger volumes.

As an ROF (Retired Old Fart) I recently was able to get my second vaccination. I am about to leave to go to lunch with friends for the first time in over a year, and my wife and I are planning a beach trip in late May, well after all members of our family are scheduled to be fully vaccinated.

My experience, many decades ago, was that it also works in the other direction. As a youth, having learned to drive a manual transmission car, it was easier for me to learn to shift on a motorcycle.
