Perhaps you've missed the 1,000 racist jokes they've made about the Vietnamese kid. Or the years of vicious (but funny) gay jokes that Claire has made about her brother. Or the Colombian stereotypes. This show has been anything but politically correct.

I know this sounds crazy, but he could have used frequent flyer miles, a different credit card, made an online payment to free up funds, gotten an online or phone approval for additional credit, paid with a bank debit card, withdrawn cash to buy the tix from a travel agent, had Claire, Phil or Jay charge the tickets.

When you open up a business, you are, by law and the Constitution, not allowed to discriminate against anyone, regardless of your personal religious beliefs. The government does not compel one to open a business. You CHOOSE to open a business. And if you're going to do so, you have to follow the law, which says you

This could go so many ways. Catherine could blackmail her own mother (and why wouldn't she after all these years?). Or Selina actually can still pardon Bill if she wants to. What's great about this show is nothing ever goes the way you expect it to.

Yes, and Friends did it better, and with layers. They hid it because he lied about being allergic to dogs when, in fact, he just didn't like them. And they busted him on the allergy claim because Phoebe was secretly keeping the dog in Monica/Chandler's apartment for days. This is why Friends was one of the best.

Yes. I'm saying an improvement over the last couple of seasons, which I agree were pretty weak. And as I stated, I agree that the show no longer has the mojo it once had, but it has come back significantly this season over recent seasons. My larger point was that I think the reviewer is being unduly harsh. We can

You ask this question as state after state is now passing "Religious Freedom" laws to ensure that Christians can deny equal treatment to anyone who doesn't follow their beliefs? Gosh, I wonder why a sitcom would reflect exactly what is happening in America.

Once again, I have to say that this author and many of those commenting are being unduly harsh. It's become fashionable to pan this show because it's not as fresh as in its younger years. Yes, after 7 years any show will pale in comparison to itself when it was new and novel. There are very few exceptions to this

I honestly think the reviewer (and most commenting here) are being unduly harsh. Of course with age, the latter seasons of a sitcom will pale in comparison to previous seasons when the show, characters and dialogue were still new and fresh to the viewer. It follows that the novelty is gone. It's simply not new to us

Maybe someone can explain how the Dunphy family has 2 college-aged girls (one who is a genius, and one who works as an office manager) and a high school aged boy who can't make their own lunches or bake cupcakes, and can't go shopping for dresses or birthday gifts on their own? I could understand them worrying about

Wow….Sasheer Zamata was SO missing from last night's show that she didn't even get a mention in this article's list of missing cast members. She had an ultra-brief role in that Kenan/Amy/Tina lesbian sketch.

Friends did it a number of times. Even more so, they did a few entire episodes as one long scene in one apartment. They were usually the best episodes of the series.

I'm usually in sync with your reviews of Modern Family, but not on this one. I found the writing and acting some of the better work of this season (which, admittedly, is far from their best season). It was far more entertaining than your review lets on. It seems you deliberately omitted the mention of Ed O'Neill's

I'm also wondering why the reviewer essentially ignored Alex's story line. The scene with Ruben on the ground all bloody and Claire questioning Alex's choice in him, followed by his declaration of love for her, and her response: "Oh shut up!". Best moment of the episode.

I was thinking the exact same thing! How is this financially and logistically possible??? But then I remembered…..it's a fictional tv show.

Penny grew up, bought the whole housing project and had it torn down to make room for a new Target. She bought Wilona a Cadillac and a condo above the Jeffersons, and had her old abusive Mama "relocated" (best not to ask where). You go gurl!!!!

I absolutely LOVED Max!

I totally agree. She needs to go back and watch videos of herself in the first couple of seasons. And the writers would be well advised to serve her character better. She's like a walking cartoon.

I notice decreasing use of Sofia Vergara and nobody (either the critic above or the other comments below) seems to mind or notice. In the first few seasons, her character was given more wit and use of Vergara's comic timing. Now, Gloria is screaming every line of dialogue, and they are really milking the Colombian

I have to agree with you. The whole competition is generally tainted, in my opinion, because the judges roam the kitchen and either distract, assist, or interfere with the kids' cooking. It is nice to see them step in and help when the kids seem to be falling apart under the pressure, but as you pointed, the judges
