I’d love to see how well most of these jerks would keep it together in her place.

My family is from Missouri. When I was vegetarian, my cousin, who is the sweetest, brought a lasagne and said it was half vegetarian. I asked which half, and she said, “I put half the meat.” LOL.
I like potlucks when they’re with people I know well and it’s a recurring thing: they feel casual, collaborative, and usually reflect similar tastes/expectations. I hate potlucks with coworkers or strangers, which more often than not feel forced, are poorly organized, and can have a weird competitive/unequal element.
That’s terrible planning by the host. Three people should have brought one pie each. And whoever brought rolls should have also been assigned salad.
I have so many questions, I want to do a Q&A with your husband about this.
I hope your office allowed naps on those days
Chips and dip are great and necessary. I appreciate your kind.
I guffawed at this. That is fantastic.
I just belly laughed so hard at this.
I have not participated in any potlucks since I started watching Hoarders. Yall saw the eps where they were taking food to work/parties and living in roach feces?
Thankfully, no, he didn’t just plop the bag down on the table. I think someone found a tupperware bowl to heat it in and they did end up serving it but I have no idea what the thought process was.
counterpoint: potlucks are amazing because everyone always makes too much food and I always volunteer to take the leftovers home.
Did he just put it on the table in the bag? Do you think he meant to get corn chips? But why would they be in the freezer section? This whole story really intrigues me.
Yes! It’s a great way to do BBQ especially since it makes sure everyone got what they wanted. Some did steaks, others chicken, we brought sausages. But I’ve also been to the reverse: they provide burgers and everyone else brings sides. Either way it’s great.
I can’t do potlucks. I mean I’ll bring something to one, but I had a coworker who always made stuff for the potlucks...then I went to her house and saw her kitchen. Nope ever ate anything she made ever again.
YES, I commented this somewhere else. We’ve been asked to bring steaks to a BBQ. We passed.
I don’t mind family potlucks like for holidays but I just don’t enjoy work or other kinds of potlucks with people I don’t really know because I’m weird about food and cleanliness. Most people dig them though, so I don’t think you’re alone in this.
also:
Potlucks are also inherently unequal. Because you have to have a variety of foods, things are usually divided in some arbitrary way.
