I use winamp with the orb service to access my music media remotely. I've had problems with it as far as video, but never a problem with the audio portion.
@xlerate: I used crossloop, but it seemed to lag really badly at times.
@garbanzo-bean: Um, this is the Lifehacker - US board. Try one for your own country instead of whining about what;s on ours.
Am i the only one who actually uses the ftp ability built in to windows explorer (not to be confused with IE)? I just set up a direct directory to the ftp site and run it like a file folder. haven't had a problem yet.
I use Honeywell. They're durable enough to take a beating, and they blow tons of air. We pack them away in the winter and in the spring I hose them off, let them dry, re-oil and use. Haven't had a single one die in over 5 years.
My emergency kit and my laptop bag are one in the same. Being in IT I carry:
LYSOL. It removes permanent marker from non porous surfaces. Careful though, it can remove paint from those same surfaces as well. It's still less damaging the acetone. I used it to remove permanent marker from a brand new counter top without removing any of the finish.

@Okami: Blind Faith?
But it wouldn't mean getting the fastest available connection. You have to understand that the price tiers would reflect speed AND usage. You could have a low speed low usage plan to a high speed high usage plan. All in all it wouldn't make it easier on you, the consumer, just more profitable for the company. Think…
@Posco Grubb: LOL. You believe you only download"...maybe 1 GB per month"? If you add up all of the online video, flash graphics, HD graphics, interactive software, and music you listen to sole in the course of browsing the internet in a month I think you would find that is above 1 GB. Even if you are a "light" user,…
@Meoip
@HeartBurnKid
Do you people even read the comments? Seriously, it's the same repeticious junk over and over. If you don't like the stuff don't download it. I personally don't care to here your whining opinion on everything you hate about something you never even tried. If you want to talk off topic, try opening a forum.
Hey I think it's cool of LH to show some love to their readers. Congrat, Dustin!
My main concerns are for the gaming community, which is the only reason I don't use Ubuntu right now (though I want to badly!) WINE and Cadaga are good, but WINE is hard to use and Cadaga cost money, which wouldn't be bad if it was a one time thing. So, what are we gonna do?
I fully believe that you don't need a degree to be successful. I can't count how many times the big "degree-bearing" suits have had to ask me for help.
Okay, I realize I'm biased, but does everyone overlook Opera?
