It’s probably going to be more difficult to shrink the missile than to upgrade the jet...

I mean...there are a lot of reasons you wouldn’t want to advertise the capabilities of your new backbone fighters and would be content to let the world think it’s useless and expensive, and not a threat. We live in a republic, so the military and defense companies have to deal with the fallout from that belief.

ICBMs fly for an hour or so. Drift in inertia guidance is a function of time elapsed from start of navigation to finish. A torpedo like this will likely have an algorithm designed to cancel out drift based on pre-programmed surfacing points to acquire a GLONASS signal and re-align its systems.

Dothan is probably because of Ft. Rucker. All those Warrant officers buying sports cars after graduation

You cant go wrong with an old pair of winter weight BDUs. They’re ok in the summer if you role the sleeves or just take the blouse off. In the winter you just put on some long johns. 4 Pockets for stuff on the blouse. There are cargo pockets on the pants. The Field Jacket is the bomb.com if it’s below 20 or so.

Gears. I swapped the 2.73s in my 87 silverado out for 3.73s. With my new tires it put me right at 2100rpm at 70 mph. Just in the sweet spot for the 350 thats in there. Before that, I never saw 4th gear on the interstate. My gas mileage went up, I could tow, I could accelerate without the toque converter unlocking.

I live in Japan right now and we have a 96 Jimny 1300. I can confirm, it’s  a hoot and a half...below 100 Km/Hr

Helicopter pilot here. If you want a name for that, it’s a return to target, albeit an aggressive one. The idea being that you bleed off airspeed in order to decrease your turn radius and increase your turn rate. You can either turn with the tail rotor or roll and pull through. The latter is much easier on the air

Can we talk about the midget checking the tail rotor assembly in the picture?

I wish they had an interplane set up for Helo air to air fueling.

hmm

Living in Okinawa I can say people do this, and it’s great. Sort of their version of the “The Wave” back in the States

These are everywhere out here in Okinawa. You can pick up a R32 4 door for $2500. Where you run into problems are when they’ve been passed between dudes cycling on and off the island from the states. It’d make y’alls heart stop to see the rust that afflicts these workhorses.

I mean if we’re going by deceptively fast and advanced WW2 aircraft, I think the P-61 is more apt. It had a RADAR for night fighter and attack missions, when that was still a huge deal. It had huge radial engines that were far less finicky than the Lightnings’s liquid cooled engines. It had 4 20mm cannons, 4 .50 cal

I’m a helicopter pilot and generally follow the rule “dress to egress”. Sturdy shoes, jeans, and a cotton shirt can make a huge difference in crash. And you aren’t going to be a help or happy if you’re standing on a hot tarmac in shitty flip flops.

My mom bought one of these new. I was lucky enough to take it to college my sophomore year. It was absolutely a great car. The size was perfect for going down to Phoenix with friends or throwing the snowboard in the back an heading to flag staff. And Say what you want about it being boring to drive. I had a blast

Cool, next time you land an apartment building going 140kts after flying it for 12 hours I’ll watch.

May God have mercy on those brakes. Good on em, thats a huuuuuge bitch

I live in Japan, we recently got a 96 Jimny, the thing is absolutely a blast.

If army UH-60s are like the HH-60G in that picture, their windows aren’t bird strike resistant. So, had it hit the windscreen, that could have been pretty bad.
