The Indian government’s emissions standards are aligned with those of Europe, but always a few steps behind. The one currently in force is BS IV, which is the same as Euro 4, which would date to 2005 in the EU, but was only fully applied in India fairly recently.

That argument would be valid if the knowledge to do car stuff properly wasn’t out there. They aren’t inventing this crap from scratch out of necessity. Car making is hard. Bring in people and processes that do it right and avoid the garbage that leaves Tesla’s plants.
