Pretty sure she was fired. I believe the cause of firing was that she couldn’t get along with her coworkers, most notably Alyssa Milano. I love Shannen Doherty, she’s almost always my favorite part of every series she’s in, but I think her rep for being difficult to work with is likely legit.

I thought it was because she and Alyssa Milano loathed each other.

I thought I had heard some buzz about her. I confess that it took me a long time to warm up to her Lois, but the chemistry between her and Clark became mesmerizing, and I fell in love with her character. Good to know she’s back on TV.
