Yeah, I feel like internet culture has created some toxic entitlement amongst fans. Nothing is going to be perfect and tick every box.

Context does matter, but you are picking and choosing what context matters to you. As it stands, white people wearing dark makeup to appear black is the continuation of a practice tied to the mocking of black people, and often enslaved Africans, in the US. That’s the context for this. More context for this, which a…
Just...just wear the clothes. We know who it is, the costume’s good and fine on its own, there’s no need to Blackface it up. Jesus, why is this so hard?
Oh so you're just stupid. My bad I thought you were asking me a serious question.
Bingo. I saw a story on CNN yesterday asking “Is the Left too extreme?”, and it pissed me off. No, motherfucker, the Left isn’t. The Right has gone waaaay to the right, and the only way the left can be considered “extreme” is in comparison to a right that has grown as ridiculously racist, xenophobic and sexist as the…
I think that’s about right. Conservatism is supposed to mean preservation of the status quo, maintenance of institutions, and gradual change by observing what appears to work. None of those things exist in contemporary conservatism in the U.S. They’re all “centrist.” I think we are better off describing the modern…
There was a cartoon representation of this, but I can’t find it again.
Athletes are measuring sticks.
Compromise is over-rated as a political tool. Never mind the problem that the compromise position between being 0% racist and 100% racist is being 50% racist, you can’t actually accomplish anything in this country by getting Democrats to compromise with blue dog Democrats and Republicans.
The last great compromises…
I think centrism is the new conservatism. “We should keep things they way they are. Perhaps, minor, imperceptible tweaks over decades.” Whereas conservatives are now, “We should regress back to the middle ages, with inquisitions, and religious rule, and putting women and minorities to death, and stripping them of…
I mostly was rooting for Jim Nantz to gloss over the actual details of Tiger’s last ten years (the drug abuse, the DUIs, the public infidelities) with phrases like “after all he’s been through” and “with everything that’s happened.”
She’s talking about progressive members of the House. And she’s not wrong. Most Democrats nationally are not that progressive and it’s reflected in who we elect.
I understand some people find cursive faster/easier, but if that were the universal experience cursive wouldn’t be this far into decline. It’s not as of this trend only started when laptops entered schools.
“Hard to take notes in print”
As someone who struggled with cursive in elementary school, FUCK THAT NOISE. It’s not necessary and people need to stop wishing for crap like this to make a comeback.
The only “bad” food is food that has *gone* bad (i.e. rotten or moldy food).
I don’t understand how in all the of the difficulty it takes to open a restaurant, needing PR, needing financing, a realtor to get you a location, etc, how did nobody step back and say ‘girl, this is a bad idea!’?!?!!
Mass transit brings those people to you. That’s why. Good-old racism.
Of course it’s politically viable. You get the banks on board (lending money for the project), the road developers, the construction companies, and the unions because it’s 3-plus years of guaranteed steady employment. The key problem with mass transit is that “the masses” (aka the poors) will use it.
Mass transit is evil socialism but giving billions and billions to private sector leeches who will do nothing with it to actually help the problem is fine.
