Sucks to lose your car that way. If it makes you feel any better though, that 3rd gear thing probably would have come to a head and you’d have a big repair bill! I had an ‘08 with the same issue and my transmission basically disintegrated while driving one day. A lot of 8th gens had bad gear sets from the factory :(

I had the same problem with 3rd gear. I had an ‘08 and I’d constantly grind going into 3rd gear. This eventually led to fork and gear failures and I had to get all new gears, forks, clutch and flywheel. This thread has a lot of information about the issue. Probably should look into new gears and resync.

This generation also had a real shitty 3rd gear defect. I used to own an ‘08 Si and it would often grind shifting into 3rd.
