Hear the engines roll now!

LoTR was actually pretty respectful of the source material. Particularly the first two movies.

Bingo.

Sandman was the first comic series I ever read and it was amazeballs. Only thing is it ruined modern Superhero comics for me since they seem so hokey now.

Paranormal Activity was interesting? When?

They had called him eccentric when he had bought the property in the Alaskan wilderness. Did he really need to go that far away to "Get away from it all"? They called him crazy when he spent his life savings to build a bunker on the property. What did he think was going to happen? They called him dangerous when he

Indeed, he should just kill himself. What a failure. Just give up, don't even try next time. It's beyond fail, really. I actually just killed myself, thinking about how awful it is. Not even worth breathing one more br

they are horse shit tho.

I love me some Black Hole, with that said I'm pretty over adaptations of works I feel were done pretty perfectly the first time, in the first medium.

Very well. Let this be the official discussion thread for fools!

Sure, it is a valid argument if you see that as a flaw in Kubrick's film. It was obviously a deliberate decision, though, because Kubrick was telling a different story than King. And, I trust Kubrick as a filmmaker a little more than I trust Stephen King as a novelist. Although I do think the Shining is a great book.

Kubrick's "The Shining" is a cinematic masterpiece. King's "The Shining" is pretty good.

Tangled + Legend of the Guardians, and voila! Of course that's only on the surface though. The style is pretty much tangled, and the two main characters are pretty much Rapunzel and Flynn re-skinned, but this is Disney we're talking about here; not surprising at all that we're getting another princess film.

You're being severely disingenuous. It's Rapunzel and Flynn vs the Ice Queen as these characters are very clearly molded on those. That damn horse even makes an appearance. Disney does not mess with success.

They can be similar without sharing an identical plot you know. Sometimes it's about mood, characterization, and atmosphere/visual style more than a sequence of events. People are getting that vibe for a reason.

If the plot of Tangled was about two sisters and one of them was the villain who had caused an entire land to fall into an unnatural winter and the other sister goes on a journey to try and end the winter by confronting her sister along with a guy who sells ice and a snowman, then yes. It's basically Tangled.

I can understand your frustration with that, but on the other hand I've never really understood how someone can claim to be a fan of all anime. It's like saying you're a fan of all books, or all movies. It's just too broad of a category to really be meaningful.
