I will nominate the "cornbread" scene in Life as the last example of Eddie Murphy truly being funny. At least attempting to be funny:

Yeah I don't want to dump too much on his novellas, and I think Full Dark, No Stars is the first time I've been almost completely satisfied with one of his novella collections. "Big Driver" is truly the only real mediocre one of the lot for me.
