There used to be a saying in business: “No-one ever got fired for buying IBM.” IBM wasn’t the best or the cheapest, but it was the standard. Once you decide to deviate from the standard, any problem that crops up is your fault, because you decided not to just buy IBM.

Old Lexus SC300 or IS300, overbuilt and stout.

My son’s friend has a 2002 Lesabre with 175k miles on it. I had to replace a burst brake hose for him last week (he’s extremely lucky it popped in front of my house and not on the freeway or something), and I have to say that car is a remarkable survivor of abuse. It will likely run and drive (poorly) for at least

Which is why theseAOTD slideshows are such a joke. What possible relevance does a car that cost $5k 17 fucking years ago have to the question of what the best $5k cars are today?

You know what was an awesome car for less than $5k 50 years ago? A Hemi Superbird. Why don’t we put that on the list, too?

I will not stand for this slander of the 3800.

So it’s the road’s fault this jackass was going 150mph on a tight turn? Only someone who also thinks driving like a fucking maniac in a residential area is cool would bother posting this “evidence” of whatever it is you think you’ve discovered.

Considering that 150 is literally about double the highest legal highway speed in the country, and that means Highway, not Urban or residential, it seems like it's kind of a moot comparison.

Ambulances also spend a whole lot of time idling, and when they are moving they tend to be pushed beyond their limits

“They also found improvised explosives, he said. The explosion occurred as officers intentionally detonated the improvised devices in the truck”

Best and most interesting car Infiniti ever made, but completely agree.

How do you use a picture of an Aerocoupe in the lead, and none of you recommended it.

We all know that dealerships in Minneapolis specialize in offering Trucoat.

Kids and other idiots today.

... and I haven’t been home in 20 years.

I feel like I’ve read this exact same headline from David 5 times before.

Isn’t this like your 6th “Holy Grail”?

No offense to OP, but why is it every time I check jalopnik the top story is an article about shit old jeeps?

I disagree with the lower door plastic molding. I think it looks better with it on there... simply because the front and read bumpers wrap around and are so low. Without the molding on the doors the lines are broken up and it feels uneven or just off. Obviously this is just my take, and if you like it better without

Deboss Garage and their 67 C10 wrecker with a nasty Duramax swap as well as their OBS F150 that is getting a CAT motor. Good Canadian fun.
