Its not a fancied up 4Runner, not even the same chassis. The GX is based on the Toyota Prado, which we dont even get here. Its also more capable and comfortable than the 4Runner, which is probably why they recommended it.

If the dealership is who repossessed the car then they had the lein on it. So in a roundabout way the kid was buying the car from the dealership anyway. They are more involved in this then everyone is saying. 

If the dealership was the actual leinholder that had the authority to reposess the car (outside of the inability to do so because of the bankruptcy order) then they should release the car with title to the kid (as they would either send it to auction or put it back on the lot anyway) and go after the slimeball…
