There are trade-offs, but Sims 3 was a huge step back from the Sims 2 in a lot of ways. Rabbit Holes alone were pretty unforgivable, and I don’t really see the limited open world as that big of a step down.

Story Progression is about the only thing I miss from 3 to be honest. It felt like a huge misstep otherwise.

I personally felt that the open world in The Sims 3 was idiotic. Anything interesting you might do was hidden behind a rabbit hole anyway, whereas at least in the Sims 2 you could go inside a bookshop or bistro.

The bug had to do with the frequency. Male pregnancy via alien abduction is a part of The Sims and has been for ages. Heck, The Sims 2 shipped with multiple families where the kids were born of coupling between alien “Pollination Technicians” and human sims.
