One word: Colonnade. This style was wildly popular in the mid-to-late 70s, and into the early 80s. GM had the Monte Carlo, Cutlass, Grand Prix, and Century/Regal. Ford had the Thunderbird/Cougar (especially the ‘77-’79 models), and Chrysler had the Cordoba and it’s Dodge counterpart the Charger/Mirada. All of these

I’m not a Ford guy, and I really don’t like Fairmonts (although the Zephyr/Futura aren’t so bad, I guess). I was ready to smash the no-dice button, but then I read V-8, four-on-the-floor, plaid seats, and low-ish miles to boot.  I think the price is in line with the options and condition.  Nice price.

I’ll vote nice price on this, but just barely. I’d feel better about it if the cowl was repaired and a full detail done. But the big block engine and row-your-own gearbox put it into NP territory for me.

One of the game shows in the 1970s used to give away Pontiacs. I can’t remember the show, but they would have a lineup of Pontiacs on display that could be won by the contestant.

I said “For purposes of this racing series” because the rules only allow Harley or Indian motorcycles.  Of course they aren’t the only ones making baggers.

Came here for this, thanks.

I think that’s an illusion caused by the outer rim of the wheels being painted black.

I test drove a Tempo in ‘84, the first year for the model. Hated it. I don’t Ford made anything I liked back then. Does anyone remember the Ford EXP/Mercury LN7? I like the why those looked, but it was a two-seater built on the Escort platform (yeech). instead of a back seat, it had only a cargo area behind the front

Why not dual disc brakes on the front? Harley normally will put a single front brake rotor mounted on the front left, which cleans up the right side of the front wheel for more visual appeal. I wonder why this bike has it on the right?

All I hear is shit about HD.”

Also, where the fuck does my right leg go? Is that black cover of the exhaust made of something that won’t get hot?”

The exhaust is tucked in enough that you leg shouldn’t be directly touching it. But yeah, it’s gonna get hot.

I’d like to see a QOTD on what was the most unexpectedly fun car you’ve driven. For me it was the AMC Pacer X. Didn’t expect to enjoy driving it as much as I did. Of course I’ve driven a bunch of cars that were horrible to drive as well.  In fact the number of shitwagons I’ve driven surely outnumbers the good ones.

For purposes of this racing series, it’s an American V-Twin powered heavyweight touring motorcycle with a fairing and hard saddlebags.

Some people consider any touring motorcycle with a fairing and bags to be a bagger, but I think that description is overly broad.

throw down the gauntlet by squaring off the Falcon, American, Impala, and Charger”

If you’re using the Ford Falcon and Rambler American, the competing models from GM and Chrysler would be the Chevy II (or possibly Chevelle), and the Dart/Valiant/Barracuda

“ find it interesting that so many American luxury cars in the ’70s were named after cities or provinces in Spain, a cross-brand coincidence that is oddly specific.”

Don’t forget the AMC Matador Barcelona Edition

This is a pretty good assessment. I was a teen during the malaise era. I grew up in the midwest, and foreign car dealers were not common. And getting parts was a order it and wait affair, which also made them less desirable.

Other than Volkswagen, most of the import cars where I lived were rebadged Mitsubishis sold at

Or even better, the rare Can Am

Yes, old cars had odometers that only went up to 99,999 miles for a reason.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but they had to pick a number that rhymes with “juke box money”. Twenty.

I suppose they could have sang “...got me a Chrysler, it seats about eight, so hurry up!  It’ll be so great!”
