Hades plays fantastic on Switch too. I played the beta on PC and Switch at launch.

Half Life 3 confirmed!!!
Yeah, I basically agree.
Yeah, I think the notion that it’s something you kind of ‘train’ yourself to see - on purpose or otherwise - is what I’ve come around to here. I think of it a lot like wine tasting: for people who’ve never really been into wine, beyond ‘red, white, and rose’, there’s not a lot of difference between vintages. Then,…
After reading through the responses here (which have been all across the board), what I’ve come down on is more or less that it’s a ‘trained’ thing: the more you play at higher frame rates, the more you’re going to notice higher frame rates. Much like the audiophiles in your example: the more they listen to vinyl, the…
It’s not just about twitch reflexes. It’s also just about smoothness and reducing “choppiness”, particularly when the camera turns, when elements of the scene change, when lighting changes, when particle effects are drawn, etc.
The thing is, jumping from 30 to 60 FPS is actually a big leap, because when the numbers are that small, you’re doubling the frames. But as the numbers get bigger, the same “size” of framerate increase produces smaller differences.
We’re definitely at diminishing returns.
I’ve been playing games since Atari 2600, back when the video setup devices looked like this,
Valve clearly doesn’t care about sunk hardware costs. And by all means, they have no reason to. Valve can do whatever they want they’re the richest private game publisher in the United States. They’re worth over $12,000,000,000 dollars.
I can’t play my laptop comfortably in bed, or on a couch in an air bnb on holiday while my partner watches TV, or any number of other scenarios where setting up a laptop in an adhoc space would not be comfortable. If you didn’t like a Switch for the exclusives, but did like it for the indies, then this is a fantastic…
That’s not at all true. Show me an actual *gaming* laptop (i.e. discrete gaming GPU) that you can get for anywhere close to $400. Doesn’t exist.
I’m keeping a close eye on the Steam Deck for a similar reason: less because I want a handheld device, and more because Valve artificially depressing the purchase price for market penetration purposes means it’s going to be significantly ‘more’ PC than I’d be able to buy for the same amount elsewhere. (Plus, I hope…
It's for people like me, who have a high demanding job, want to play games quick and easy, want my kids to be able to play too, want to be able to play Civ kinds of games on the go, and last but not least stream games from Ps Now and Xbox Game pass
Only vaguely related, but: am I the only person who just doesn’t ‘get’ high framerates? Like, sure, I can tell the difference between 10 and 30, but 30 to 60 is more or less negligible, and 60 to higher is damn near imperceptible to me (as a difference from 60, I mean - I’m not implying that I somehow lose the ability…
“Broken” implies it’s unintentional.
It’s not you, they’re just broken.
You know, you just reminded me, I don't think I've heard about Ninja since he switched platforms again a while back? It's been nice!
“Both planes will be towed out of the environment for repairs.”
Gotta use the chocks. For safety.
