Where do the reverse vampires fit in to all this?
You're right, it's ham-handed/verging on overkill, but nothing about this show so far has been subtle. Also, pretty sure that's a Death Cab song :)
PITT THE ELDER
I thought "No Surprises" was a nice fit for 'pre-awakening' Maeve in one of the first few episodes. "Fake Plastic Trees" was nice and melancholic, and the subject matter of the song certainly fits the themes of the show. Ditto with the powerful, chamber-fied "Motion Picture Soundtrack" during Maeve's tour.
OK, I took issue with your terminology but your explanation makes sense. I know just the style you are referring to. Though I personally feel like "mass-market lager" may be a better catch-all, given the convoluted ancestry you've mentioned. But pedantic, semantics, whatever. I also love mass-market Japanese beer!…
I agree with everything you said save for American-style lager with sushi. There are plenty of mass-market Japanese beers that fit way better—Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo. Orion if you can find it.
Rite-Aid, of all places, seems to have the best beer sales. It's all pretty mass-distributed "craft" beer, but for a buck or less a bottle I ain't complaining.
I have so much love for Pizza Port. Their beer, their pizza, the various vibes of all their locations, etc. I was also pleasantly surprised by Aurora Hoppyalis—I've always been a bit meh on Karl Strauss but they've been putting out some very solid stuff lately
It's a classic. I'm also a big fan of their Oarsman.
He's the Vice News of food. Well-traveled and often at least somewhat interesting, but also an insufferably smug reminder of everything wrong with neoliberalism.
Fair enough. There's no accounting for morons, hubris, or morons with hubris.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: democracy simply doesn't work.
We bought a place in French Park/DTSA because we love the area and it's what we could afford (no way we could buy in Costa Mesa where we lived previously). I love the history & culture, and how small-town & walkable it feels while still having tons of essentials nearby and being three minutes from the 5. And it's…
Well, there's no getting around the delay factor. But if you make weak-ass edibles that are specifically advertised as such, and targeted toward newbies/lightweights, a more experienced user would know or be cautioned not to buy it. Just seems weird the option doesn't even seem available, at least in the otherwise…
Maybe, but modern science seems to have a lot of options available. Maybe they can mix in another naturally derived compound to block or hinder the psycho-active receptors. I dunno, I'm a librarian, I'm talking out of my ass here. But the larger point is there are a lot of un-explored options due to the tight…
Yeahhhh, I'm in Santa Ana and I feel you. OC has way too much good ol' fashioned police corruption, supported by the good ol' fashioned, rich-as-balls bigots up and down the coastline :(
While the "miracle drug" folks are super annoying, it is pretty frustrating because there has been evidence from extremely limited studies that controlled use of marijuana or its derivatives could possibly help with all sorts of medical conditions. The evidence at this point is 90% anecdotal because it has to be,…
