I was watching a slideshow of charming photos of Obama today and they all made me smile involuntarily and get misty. He’s just the cutest.

Evans: I have a deep and eternal love for the Cap
that is an excellent point. I’m just trying to be hopeful. First that she’ll win (the data bears that out, she probably will) and second that the white men of the country will be able to shut their fat gobs about her. We shall see. My mantra is “expectations create reality.”
ugh, my husband’s uncle somehow always comes in for the smooch when I’m seated and am far less able to maneuver away from him...
moderate republicans? what’s that?
I’ve heard though that she got a lot of stupid shit when she first ran for Senate, then once she was in office and doing a good job, the shit quieted down a bit. We can hope?
a very expensive process, so i hear.
I did rather love Whiplash, tho.
I really can’t hate on that too much, though, personally. All three Chrises are basically catnip for me, as much as I might deny it in public.
you are a fucking genius. like Leslie, you should be expecting hollywood’s call once they read this comment. or at least we can dream...
exactly. a “bad dad” is one who is literally physically abusive and/or skips out on alimony. If they’re just going to like not know how to talk to their 11 yo daughter, that’s been par for the course for the last million years or so.
I hear ya, alas, when this exists, some vegans will go for it. Makes me very very sad for all those dumb-vegan owned cats...
Is that the case? I don’t feel like I’ve seen that. In fact, in this hetero-normative world, I feel like it’s pretty uncommon, actually.
I know a woman who is the most committed vegan ever, and she still feeds her animals meat-based diets where appropriate because she isn’t crazy. This woman obviously has some SERIOUS issues with food.
yep, it’s called “breatharianism”. Hubs and I joke about angering the breath lords when you eat.
fair. Might be difficult to get off with a straight face since I’m 24/7 dripping in diamonds, but a girl can try. ;\
preach. although even if I *could* afford the best care, therapy, etc, that still doesn’t obligate me to take that on.
Yes, completely. The expectation that a woman give birth to a disabled child is only a small step removed from forcing a woman to give birth, period. Even liberals balk at the idea of terminating a child with chromosomal abnormalities. It’s shitty.
I count myself as one who would be emotionally ill-equipped to care for a special needs child. I’m prepared to terminate if significant abnormalities were to be apparent. Some would think this makes me a monster. I don’t know how to respond to that.
Similarly, the super common advice of “never go to bed angry” is the WORST possible advice. It’s WAY better to go to bed seething with rage and wake up with perspective than to start a fight that you’ll later realize was all an over-reaction. If it’s actually a big deal, it will still be a big deal in the morning…
