Brooklyn 99 - no. Jennifer Lawrence - a soft no (except for the one line in the film where she kisses Amy Adams - that was great).

As I remember it the car was not on very level ground and of course a roadside jack as opposed to jackstands isn't the safest either. My oil filter wasn't in the easiest spot to get to either. Frustration and impatience caused her to yank the oil filer wrench too hard and jerked the car so much it fell off.

When I asked my sister to do an oil change on my car. She had recently gotten her C class mechanics licence. While under the car she pulled too hard to get the oil filter off and the car fell off the jackstand - she escaped being squished completely but cracked a few ribs. Yikes!

Great article - a lot of spot on points. Working for yourself has its advantages and is a great way to grow as a person/worker even if you go back to FT work for someone else. I tried several times to go 100% solo with my own work but inevitably the work dried up and I went back to FT salary with a company. I found

My Roth is currently at a bank that requires an in person deposit (and not at the teller - with a customer rep at a desk). Are all Roths handled this way? It would be great to be able to do deposits electronically like online banking - this has been the biggest deterrent for me on adding to my Roth.

I think we'll just agree to disagree on this - like I said its all a matter of perspective and personal experience. I don't think we can make a blanket statement with a one size fits all message - things are different for everyone. I totally agree that carrying credit card debt is terrible. A lot of people live day to

Glad he left SNL and we can now see how talented he really is.

what a useless article...next!

Besides, salt water fish taste way better than fresh water!

I really enjoyed these videos - it shows how stupid (or valid) a lot of them are when you actually see them in action.

Date someone else - it gets far too complicated and things can go wrong fast - been there a few times and it has NEVER worked out with any sort of positive outcome. There's far too many fish in the sea to dip into the work pond.

I generally agree with you aside from the statement: Don't keep any money in savings, even as a cushion for emergencies.

I'm pretty sure with Crashplan you have to restore backed up/sync'd files manually in order to get at them.

Spend as little as you can on rent while having an acceptable place to live - down the line if you ever want to own a home you won't kick yourself for spending so much on a place to live that isn't yours.

This will obviously open up a big can of comments about what is fair or not as covered many times by other LH posts. No matter what you tip, anything you say is going to be judged in either direction. I have personally noticed (and heard from several restaurant owners) that in the last few years the generosity of tips

I definitely can overspend on items/amazon on things I want or think I "need". Lately I have been using the idea (found on LH) that I have to save as much as I buy on anything non-essential. A $20 amazon purchase for tech also means a $20 transfer to savings - really makes you rethink purchases and also helps build

Saw American Hustle yesterday - it was entertaining but not nearly as good as The Fighter or Silver Playbook IMO. The writing was there, but it looked like a Scorsese knockoff (complete with Robert De Niro cameo). Christian Bale completely carried the movie and should get a nomination. Amy Adams was decent but the

What a cliche' card - not really creative at all - I would think most woman would just toss it and/or ridicule it. The Titanic reference is vomit-provoking - when I was dating I met someone who claimed her favorite movies were Dirty Dancing and Grease - we never went on a second date.

I see this all the time - usually the task just falls into a dark hole until someone asks what happened/who worked on it...usually it gets passed onto someone else with no communication about it!

hmmm...here's my bullet list for not being hated around the office (some of which I see repeated by others):
