I think her take is quite reasonable. The ad was about as creatively lazy as an airline food joke.

In many cases they don't even live in their community anymore. Police unions have fought against residency requirements pretty much anywhere they still exist.

How long have you had your head in the sand?

I know several college educated police officers that are more than happy to go along with the fuckery. It's a culture issue, top-down.

"Ferguson is a chicken or the egg deal."

Pretty much, except for instead of being either a chicken or egg the instigator was a police officer murdering an unarmed black man.

Or maybe if the original cop that gunned down an unarmed black black man in the street wasn't a dumbass there wouldn't be people rioting in the first place...

Today's LEO considers the citizens of the United States as enemies.

I believe police do not have to read Miranda Rights anymore.

Is it hard being so angry and spiteful all the time?

LMAO

How about you shove it instead of being a condescending ass?

Between the troll-fest and the "My relative made $1.5 bajillion dollars by sitting on their ass and picking their nose" posts, it's become less worth it to read the comments, which is too bad because they used to be a great place to learn and gain more insight on the topics discussed in the articles.

I don't think much would be lost if Kinja just didn't allow burner accounts to post links, videos or gifs.

It's important that Nick Denton also recognize that some of us are reading these sites at work. I can filter which articles I read to avoid "objectionable" content, but I can't control whether the violent porn gifs show up as comments on seemingly innocuous posts. At the end of the day, it may end up costing you

It seems like there's a simple solution: don't allow html in burner posts. Only text. It seems like this would be super easy.

I used to reply quite a bit in Jezebel, but this latest iteration of Kinja has been a troll fest. It's not even worth it anymore, so I rarely post. I'm probably not the only one.

I revceived a horrifying gif as a response to a comment a few weeks back and I was shaken all day. I cannot imagine what it's like for you guys to have to deal with these images day in and day out. It may not mean much coming from a random interet commenter, but I'm truly sorry you have to deal with this.

How can we support you? What can readers/commenters do to push Gawker Media into action?

I just want to write dude, not dismiss bloody rape gif trolls every day. It is the worst part of our jobs to hear from commenters that they can't discuss, say, a teen girl being great at Little League without some person boasting a burner account using the collective comment thread as a chance to harass people.

The last thing I want to do is give this giant and troubling waste of our goddamn time the acknowledgment that is clearly so desperately craved. But the fact that I must suppress my pride and bring attention to this in a plea for support from my own employer makes it all the more ridiculous.
