    I’m an old fart who remembers when you could buy a new 914. I liked ‘em. Not especially fast, but fun, and they didn’t cost out the wahzoo.

    I bought my first automatic-equipped car last October, after owning only manuals since getting my driver’s license in 1974. If by purchasing an automatic I helped kill manuals, so be it.

    Remember that what appears to be “flat” highway below the ramp is actually sloped steeply downward, as evidenced by the yellow warning sign and all the brake lights. The ramp is probably not as steep upward as it might appear. Perspective, and all.

    In the mid-seventies, I worked for a company whose stable of pickups included four minis: Two Chevy LUVs (rebadged Isuzus), a Toyota Hi-Lux, and a Courier. They were all good trucks, but my favorite of them was the Courier.
