I will try not to judge, since I have recently started saying "y'all" after being in a relationship with a man from Memphis for the past two years.

Yep. I moved there when I was 22, and I never sounded English to anyone English. When I went home everyone thought I had an accent. I was aghast.
Thank you. THANK YOU! I lived in Britain for a dozen years, and never picked up an accent because DUH I'm an American adult. I did however pick up vocabulary, simply because it was necessary to be understood properly, and to some extent intonation. When I hear other American adults who have only lived there for a…
Worked for me in getting over my very messy marital breakdown. Then of course I am from Connecticut so we learn this shit at (a very selective) preschool.
I am FINALLY filing for divorce next week after having been separated from the second Mr Crumpett for the past four years. He told me that since he is my friend, and he would do anything for me, why isn't he giving me the one thing I want most from him? I could have, of course, filed a contested divorce years ago, but…
Me too! They were a much-appreciated 9th birthday present.
Whoever thought the British were all about quiet desperation clearly never met my former in-laws. One of my favourite (????) incidents was when my MIL kicked my FIL in the arse right before Easter dinner because he was stoking the fire incorrectly, and nearly kicked him into the hearth. He brandished the poker at her…
Same here, but from my dad's side. My mother (64 and still a size 2, bless her cotton socks) does not suffer from Les Jowls or Le Midriff Bulge, so of course every picture she takes of me does not take into account that I might want them camouflaged. I had to beg her to take one of me from a more flattering (read:…
I try not to forget how lucky I am that my mom's always got my back. I try to always have hers in return.
That is awesome.
I thought the title of this was
Good lord, I had no idea Jeremy Kyle had crossed the pond. SADNESS.
That's what I did with a toxic "friend" of the family. I unfriended her after sending her a message that I did not appreciate her crap on my page. Then I told my mom, who after careful consideration also unfriended her on FB. Neither of us wanted that BS in our lives.
Matt's girlfriend, a 43-year-old filmmaker and actress named Terisa Greenan, goes further, expressing the virtues of her lifestyle in stark terms. "Polyamorous people are just smarter," she says.
My boyfriend and I need a recommendation for an abortion provider. We plan to get pregnant just so we can have a slutty California abortion!
Utterly and completely agreed.
All of that may be true, but in the absence of USCIS changing its rules anytime soon (and bearing in mind this Congress's abhorrence of anything with the mere tinge of international law somehow impinging on its power), it's still a privilege and we need to work within that system. For most people, particularly those…
USCIS sees it as a privilege so for the purposes of legal immigration in the US, it is a privilege. Personally, I see it as a human right. I've been through the whole immigration experience with my ex, and it is one of the most aggravating experiences I've ever had. It didn't feel like a privilege at all.
Have you found VisaJourney yet? For all its faults (and there are many), it really is the best forum out there for real info from people who have been through it.
