I’m pretty sick of Dr. West basically calling Coates and Obama neoliberal Uncle Toms. Also, fuck Andrew Sullivan for using “Between the World and Me” as an excuse to play the angry black man card.

For all their faults, the one thing the Germans did was look back on their history and owned the ugly parts of it. Even in the light of being labeled potential Nazis at every heated argument, they didn’t go the route of trying to gloss over WWII or minimize anyone’s part in it. They accept that there were those that…
I feel like Obama got handed centuries of hatred, the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression, two wars that were left ignored for years, and all the other usual problems that come with being President and people were like, “You’ve got about four months to fix it all.”
There’s nothing morally admirable about Bernie Sanders. Our whole country is fucked because he couldn’t get over his own ego.
That’s exactly what they’re doing. They call everyone a neoliberal. Did Hillary Clinton want to privatize schools? Does Coates? Did Obama? No. It’s nonsense.
All the people who attack Tahanesi always attempt to mischaracterize his POV or criticize him for not offering them palatable solutions. They can never ever refute the facts he lays out in his writing because his shit is so fucking tight and insightful. That is their greatest beef with the brother, he builds a case…
I get the socialism and true egalitarian stances, but to what does Cornel West support or offer? Couching to Bernie Sanders is morally admirable, but also tilting at a wind mill in the US.
I feel like at its core it’s a dispute about someone who has a more Marxist, anti-capialist worldview and views racism through that lens as well, and Coates (and also Obama) who are more centrist/liberal when it comes to economics.
West is salty at Obama because he wouldn’t talk about race and he’s salty at Coates because Coates talks about race too much. At what point does this become Old Man Contrarianism wrapped in a veneer of intellectual thought?
Sorry, Michael, TL;DR it all, but what I did read is upsetting to me. First of all, you repeatedly say (and I’m paraphrasing) that West’s insults on Coates’ writing seem personal and petty, and yet West also has a point?? No! West has no point but to keep himself relevant riding the media wave of Coates’ most recent…
I am 79, 80 next year. Of all the things on my bucket list, the one I hope for the most before I die, is that Zimmerboy gets a visit from Ms. Karma.
Everyone thinks “don’t shit where you eat” applies to everyone but themselves.
This has all the force of Woody Allen’s “the heart wants what it wants” excuse for marrying his daughter. Just the fact that Smily implicitly admits to having several sexual relationships with accusing former co-workers shows that he did indeed shit where he eats.
He’s like one of those yappy little dogs, that doesn’t realize there are dogs in the world much much bigger than him, and that some of them ain’t got no patience for his noise! He gon’ fool around, pop off at the wrong n***a, and get Hoffa’d!
So Yeah uh to the white women that set this monster free you gonna start a hastag for this or not? Remember the jury that found him not guilty was comprised of white women. Remember this and Tuesday in Alabama next time they start crying over shit. As for this fat fuck I want his ass to come out of hiding. Yeah George…
The funny part is most white people wouldn’t even consider him white - he looks pretty “exotic” compared to my pastiness. Trump’s America would stop him and ask for his papers and ICE would already be called. But he got a pass with racists because he murdered a black boy and brags about it to this day.
Someone needs to kick his ass
Uhhh... hey there lucky-ass white criminal... maybe don’t utter threats to people in a very public setting. If you think you’re safe because he’s black, he’s Jay-Z, he’s got more sway than your pot-belly.
“I’m pretty sure Jay Z has 99 problems, and a Zimmerman ain’t one.”
