@Eschekt: Not really. Two of Valve's best selling titles (Team Fortress 1/2 and Counterstrike) were originally free mods back in the day, with TF being a Quake 1 mod and CS being a Half Life 1 mod. Valve ended up hiring the developers of those games to release retail versions of them. Never seen Blizzard do anything…
