Agreed. The main disservice to her is that 80s hair, which did no one any favours, young or mature. But even her outfit has this va-va-voom that some 20-something channeling Linda Evans could appreciate.

The protagonist was ten. And certainly his mother didn’t fall for it. And other characters were disenchanted. But also the character was ten.

I trusted waititi to make a movie that eon me over. Watching Nazis lose and die while one kid grows up and realized that he's wrong about everything is great.

He was like The Gentleman from Buffy, without the need for prosthetics! It really was brilliant casting.

Without much exposition at all, ScarJo created a complete person. We could see her bohemian roots. We could see that the missing husband was in an abuse-regret cycle. We could cry for her at the twist. She put in a whole onion of layers in that performance.

It’s one of the scenes that sticks with me to this day.

Watch the damn film before making a comment on it. JoJo Rabbit is objectively one of the least hateful films ever made. This isn’t glorifying Nazi’s or fascism it shows the tragic consequences of buying into ideology of hate and how humanity has to be stronger than it.

This. It was a beautiful movie and once again proves how masterful Taika Waititi is at depicting childhood onscreen (I adored ‘The Hunt for the Wilderpeople’).

I didn’t particularly like the movie but still agree. The movie is about propaganda, to criticize it as nazi youth fanfic seems reductive.
