Agreed the Ad&d 1st edition Bard class didn’t really make sense, but then again, they were the rock stars of the RPG world. The bard was so powerful, in fact, that you really did need to find a way to restrict the number of players. After all, there’s only one Jimmy Buffet, but a ton of wannabees.
