Coming from the guy who designed blue cat people to be as fuckable as possible?
Coming from the guy who designed blue cat people to be as fuckable as possible?
We spent so much time wondering if we could put weed in beer, we never stopped to wonder if we should.
I like weed and all, but not enough to consume it without its intended effect. I mean... it tastes *fine* on its own, sometimes sweet, sometimes skunky, but if I’m not getting high.... eh.
Right - after I posted, I realized the redesign was quite a while ago... I drink a lot.
This, exactly. I’m a content strategist who dabbles in front-end. I also just transitioned a site with tens of thousands of pages to a new theme. so I get it, it’s a big deal and you don’t always see things until you’re live.
I hope you’ve built up a high tolerance for bad puns.
I initially hated the old design, which you rolled out about a year (two years?) ago, because I fear change and I didn’t like the way it looked in my browser. But then I realized it was way better on mobile, and I got used to it and found new things that I liked. I feel the same way right now - not big on the layout,…
OK. Here’s my next request:
If IIRC, the search function on the old AVClub was garbage and everyone just used google.
I believe if one is a Gray, then anything you post is marked as “Pending Approval” until one of the quality folk stars it.
That man is a box of awesome!
That motto is true for pretty much any software developer whose main user is a regular person. It sucks, but I get it. From a purely business viewpoint, why would a company hire qualified SW testers when they know that the consumers will do that job for free. In the OS world, they call them “early adopters.” In…
What I find most frustrating about the redesign is that the AV Club now just looks like the half dozen other sites I visit and obsessively reload (io9, Kotaku, Jezebel, Deadspin, Gawker (RIP)).
Sorry, you took too long to post, this comment has been sentenced to obscurity.
Apparently other gizmodo sites have had problems with people posting offensive pictures and such and instead of just disabling image posting (which is a daft thing for a comment section to have) they decided to put all but approved uses into a category of not shown by default.
Holy shit I’m blue!
There was a problem on Jezebel a few years back where MRA trolls were posting a bunch of really horrible pictures. The grays allowed people to better filter out some of that stuff. It ended up filtering out just about everyone.
I’m out of the grays and I’ve been starring everybody I see. I don’t know if it helps or not really.
Is there a chance of making posting a top-level comment not utterly pointless if you don’t get in within a certain time? (i.e., comment sorting, refresh options)
I’m still stuck in the greys, so this may not show up. However: I’ve been reading the AV Club since it was the print-only, “serious” part of the Onion. Like many long-time readers, I’m concerned that folding AVC into the remnants of the Gawkerverse will kill the unique perspective and voice that makes this place so…
