Spider's more of an opium for breakfast, amphetamines for lunch, and a whiskey with LSD chaser for dinner kind of guy. I don't remember ever seeing him actually smoke pot... probably too mellow.

I think this is one of the (many) places where movie canon and book canon part ways. Since this was pretty much just referencing the movie, i think it gets a pass.
