You're totally right. I actually went away after my last post and had some lunch and, as i was sitting in my car munching away, i was thinking about what you said and what i said... I think i came to the conclusion that, in all honesty, it will take just as much social engineering to get people excited about space as

But i think the whole point of the article was that we must imagine it first, so that it can become real later. For right now you're probably correct, we would turn to the biggest person in the room... That's what people always do in movies! So if we can change that, and start showing people turning to the smartest

I fear you are completely correct. Very well said.

You are completely right... unless you read the comic "The Sacrifice" then play the sequel with the DLC of "The Passing" and see her taking on a leadership role. I agree with the author, and the point TOTALLY stands, but Zoey is coming into her own.

This is a brilliant article! Thank you for this, sums up a lot of what i've been feeling lately. I love the zombie genre but the inherent misogyny is REALLY starting to bug the crap out of me.

I think you're missing the point. Michonne might be butt-kicking but she's not a leader (at least as far as i've read) We're getting to the point where we can have "ass kicking" females, when are we going to get to the point where we can see leading ones?

@ aLynnHall

I hear ya, at least i tried to warn with the date comment, i got it as a text from a friend and did the whole emotional roller coaster thing too... then i remembered the date and pretty much cried.

Ok, this is only tangentially related but it looks like netflix is "restarting Firefly".... [www.thetvaddict.com]

No worries, i was being cranky no-coffee person and probably took your dig a bit too seriously. I really shouldn't post before noon.

oooh, have you actually tried that!? i've been meaning to but i haven't had the opportunity. What was it like?

I've always really enjoyed these movies for there stupid, stupid levels of fun... ok, the second one kinda sucked, but the first and third were great. I have yet to see this one, but now i really want to. Never connected my love of the series to my cynicism and neurosis before, but i totally see what you're saying.

Right there with you, i've actually started using the Fark Geek tag for a lot of stuff... which is insane. It's like going back 10 years and the comments are AWFUL.

I was aware of the Showtime fallout, hadn't heard about Netflix, so thanks for heads up. No need to be such a douche about it though.

Spartacus was usually there by the next day, so you have a 12 to 24 hour wait... not too bad.

Saw the first half of the pilot and was pleasantly surprised, i'd recommended giving it a shot. As someone said below it's also on Netflix.

And that is why all your "friends" hate you.

you sir read far too much Niven (and possibly Heinlein).
