Any book on CanAm is a must read. I think I have every one ever written, since I love that old series. There are also some awesome CanAm DVDs that you can buy from Amazon.

+1 on Steve Matchett's Mechanics Tale. I've read my copy multiple times. Very well written and enough tech goodies to appease the mechanical engineer in all of us.

Please tell more about its contents. You've stirred up my curiosity.

Thanks for sharing this. I'll be ordering it today. Can't wait to read it!!

I have to dig it out but I have a paperback of what the original writers of the Steve McQueen 'Le Mans' movie was originally going to be. From what I recall the main character had 'relations' with a beautiful blonde in a hotel room. This was chapter 1 I believe. I didn't finish the book because it was lame.

I'm curious what year this book was published. I've tried finding recently published tuning books but most I find are 5+ years old, and tuning has changed quite a bit in that time frame.

My wife is getting this for me for Christmas, so it'll be my next read. The V12 racing engine! I'm hoping that someday, somebody releases a REAL book on the Cosworth V8, including technical drawings.

Nigel Roebuck's writing is like looking at the best issues of Playboy. I look forward to every monthly issue of MotorSport when it arrives late to my mailbox. Best racing writer, in my opinion.

Another great book about preparing to win at Le Mans, by famous Gulf Oil engineer John Horseman. Top 3 read here, people.

All Caroll Smith's books are awesome. If you pop a boner because of roll center talks, no Viagra needed here (or with his other books).

There is a 'new' set of books covering the decades of Le Mans. I own each 'decade' and the details are impeccable, as are the many, MANY photos. If you love Le Mans, do yourself a favor and buy each one, as a Christmas gift for yourself. You know you deserve it. Yep. All available by drone delivery from Amazon.

This is a really good book. Being picky that I am, I wouldn't call it a classic, but that's just my thought. I do highly recommend it for those that love Le Mans (like me)!

For those that love Le Mans, and Steve McQueen's movie Le Mans, this book gives a superb look at how they made the movie. The cars used in the filming, the drivers they hired (best of that time), plus more. Many pages, a nice long, enjoyable read!

I own this. Great book for us race car 'techies'.

This is the best book on the Porsche 917 (and the cars leading up to it), bar none! Very well written, great quality paper, superb images and technical drawings! This is one of my top 5 books (in my collection).

For those that love the engineering of race cars, and Ferrari, this book has great images. My fav Ferrari racing book.

This book is a nice read, having stories from F1 mechanics during the 1960s/1970s. On the plus side all profits of its sale go to the British Mechanics Trust, to help those old mechanics in time of need. Some of the stories are quite funny!

If you don't own this, you're not a racing fan. I wore my first copy out, reading it many times, that I purchased a 2nd just a few months ago.

Another one of my favorite reads is 'Can Am Challenger', written by racing designer Peter Bryant. Great insight of the heyday of Can Am, even goes into how helpful Bruce McLaren was when they had an issue with tires separating from the wheels. Also available on Amazon.

I started collecting racing engineering books about 7 years ago, so I have quite a collection. One of my favorites is a recent release by renowned race car designer Tony Southgate. One of his great successes is the Jaguar prototypes. It's a great read and available on Amazon.
