I think we've all got a special soft spot for Burt because she was one of us. She was a commenter who was consistently hilarious and brilliant, and ended up becoming a writer. Same thing with UberTrout, who will always be UberTrout to me, no matter how many initials he uses. :-)

They will. I can promise you they will. ETA: And they have already.

Metaphorically speaking.

I watched the documentary "Metal" where they had a baby at a metal festival in Germany wearing a bullet belt. I can't get all that upset about the baby in a bulletproof vest. Don't most parents want to put their babies in bubbles to protect them? 'Ye just took it a step further.

If he had even said something about a black man hanging out with a young white woman and people making assumptions they are sleeping together because of cultural stereotypes of race... I could get behind that. This is just an unsolved word jumble.

I didn't mean to imply that — I realize I'm very fortunate to have decent people as parents and that not everyone is so lucky. I just cannot imagine having such a hostile relationship with them, even when it is their fault. That's all.

I moved home six years ago when my life in another state imploded in about 183 different ways. Parts of being nearby have been rocky (I lived with them twice over the course of said six years, and those periods were never good for us), but being able to see them regularly has been really cathartic for me, and I think

Amen. I spent most of today with my dad taking him to a doctor's appointment, and we actually enjoyed each other's company. (We've had our share of differences over the years, but we've always loved each other.) I can't imagine living like this.

I have two minds about this. One is that you are totally right — a fashion show is no place for a toddler. No one else would dare to bring a baby there. The other is, these are parents who, if they don't take their kid to work on a semi-regular basis, would never, ever see their kid. It's actually kind of nice to see

Is it Kansas? If it's Kansas, we can hang. :-)

Miss Jackson, ROCK ON. IT is so hard to move forward after a bad breakup. Mine happened six years ago and it's only been the last three to four months I feel I've finally starting moving forward. (And we have not spoken since the last time I saw him 6 years ago.)

I watched Good Will Hunting last night with the commentary on, and b/c of the time when they did it everything talking about him was in the present tense and I felt such a sense of loss. He's in two of my top favorite movies, and there is something about his death that still really hurts, even though I never met him,

Oh. My. God. I love mashups. This is magnificent.

But what is your stance on milk-related products? Because you can try to take my cheese wheel, but I will cut you. Most likely with my cheese knife.

Bacon did not make Top 3. You are dead to me.

This was my immediate thought. Default human = white.

That was my History Day project in eighth grade circa 1997. I had never heard of it before, but my very hippie and awesome history teacher suggested I checked into it as a project. Blew my mind and completely changed my views on a lot of American history.

:-) You are welcome! Give me a shoutout if you need backup. This outrage over his behavior is ridiculous. If Pearl Jam had done this back in the day, it would be edgy.

I don't think he's going to seem hot after watching this movie, though. Fortunately, however, bearded Dornan looks completely different than shaved Dornan, so I'll simply pretend they are two different people.

You are killing it on the Kanye defense today. I keep wanting to add my two cents, but you've already covered what I'd say.
