I know this is meant to be mocking, but the Atlantic article is spot on in my opinion. Perhaps the most levelheaded analysis of this whole thing that I've read so far.

Not only that, if you want to gamble for your wages--if you want to reap the benefits of the highs--inmho, you cannot also complain about the lows. Sure, it’s great when that table tips you 30%, but you can’t bitch when that other table tips you 10%.
