And yep, the tough guy act runs rampant in bar patrons, but once they see a few bouncers around them, that “act right” kicks in real quick.

Yeah, it’s not worth it in the end. It’s tough to blame the hot heads, because as you know, alcohol can turn some people into monsters that you just want to choke out. I was pretty bad at first, but I’ve calmed down a lot. Experience and MMA training has chilled me out a lot.

As a club bouncer, I agree with the author that deescalation is key. But, I’d add that it works a lot better if an outsider, so to speak, is the one deescalating.
