Hello My Lover's Un-Banned Ghost

I watched Monster’s Ball with my parents.

Totally agree. I understand the overall point, but it’s not productive to start shutting out prominent voices on this issue.

Yeah me too. I mean, when do they ever back off on anti-choice nonsense just because of the pesky “law.”

However, I did hear on NPR they think it might be sexually transmitted, so if you did contract Zika and spread it to someone who then either got pregnant or impregnated someone, it could be a big deal for them.

A friend of mine is a consultant that helps women negotiate, and she specifically called out that commercial. She does a great job with making women understand that they are not fully to blame for their situation. I think we can use some help negotiating, sure, and it might push us a little bit in the right direction,

I know. As long as her privilege is part of the conversation, I’m perfectly fine with these women who don’t have anything to lose doing some dirty work here.

I think the point is that she shouldn’t be hailed as a feminist hero on behalf of all of us, since she is not speaking on behalf of all of us. She shouldn’t get credit for it. I agree with that.

Good point. I mean, the correct answer is that people in power at workplaces should be correcting the problem and not putting vulnerable women’s jobs at risk. But that would be too much to ask probably, since everything is the worst.

It’s insufficient for men to scream about economic disparity at a general level (i.e. the 2016 election) if they’re unwilling to do so at their own workplace.

If Susan Sarandon gets low balled on a job she can complain to the media and be considered a hero. If I complain about being low balled I may never work in the industry again.
