People aren’t holding candle light vigils or worshipping anything. It’s just a day to drink Mexican beer and eat tacos - I can’t imagine why you’d laugh at anyone for eating food and drinking beer. Now, the morons that dress up like extras from Tombstone and run around like Speedy Gonzalez should be laughed at.  

Was searching for a used Jetta a few years ago and wound up buying a brand new Mazda 3. Ended up spending about the same amount after rebates as I would have with the used VW. My boss raves about Blue Apron - she doesn’t brown bag her lunch and always stops by the coffee shop in the morning. I’m so cheap that I have a slight panic attack thinking about how much that costs over time.

You could try a temp controller + Crock-Pot budget setup. The basic Inkbird controllers can be had for $25 on sale and most people have a Crock-Pot already. It isn’t going to be as user friendly or pretty as a purpose built machine, but it will do the trick.
