I agree with the criticism that a lot of commenters are leveling: the longer the crap is left in the container, the more odor will leak out.

Me too - I have yet to see this Timeline thing everyone's been talking about.

CoolTimer's website seems to be gone. At least it's not responding this morning.

Sorry about that. I'm surrounded by people who, apparently in keeping with their own beliefs, feel the need to mock other religions mercilessly, and often in the most ill-informed manner. In lieu of other tonal markers, that was the tenor I overlaid on your comment... sort of like the people who call up psychic

Can I nominate the Crazy Horse Memorial as a runner-up?

I had completely forgotten about that. Thank you kindly!

I learned to program in college - but that was back before the PC revolution and object-oriented programming. Both hit right around the time I was graduating. Out of school I found myself at companies where I was supporting a lot of legacy code, so I never got to learn the newer paradigms. Now I'm not in the computer

You're thinking of Jesus. The central *tenet* (ahem ;-) ) of Buddhism that you're thinking of is the elimination of desire - at least desire that drives your actions - and to that end, some devotees give up a lot of their possessions to "live simply."

Aaah. Those of us who are still stuck with "feature phones," and will be for the foreseeable future, don't tend to think about that.

Amen!

On the off chance that the original author is reading this: when you write, "The main items should take from 2 to 3 hours," do you mean 2 to 3 hours a piece, or 2 to 3 hours for all of them together?

The article is a direct copy of the linked blog entry, so LH may not have much leeway to edit the text. It also feels like English is not the author's second language. His name, Jakub Stastny, reinforces that impression.

That strikes me as a bit unfair. There are no silver bullets here - there are just ways to make the process work better. Nearly everyone has a boss, clients, and meetings - and the great majority also have times when they are left alone to work. Yes, the phone rings; yes, your boss calls you into his office. But

I don't think Stastny is implying that 3+2 will help you clear off your to-do list. In fact, the picture he paints from Paragraph One doesn't sound all that different from what you describe. The point of 3+2, I think, is to eliminate choice paralysis, procrastination, and feelings of helplessness. Even if you don't

Hmm... doesn't work on stuff I type here. And I don't know enough about Javascript to figure out why.

Grin.

For many of us, procrastinating tends to take on a life of its own. We look up and find that an entire hour/afternoon/day/week has passed. It's not what always happens, but when it does, something that reconnects us with our environment, gets us out of our own head, is a good thing.

Wait... it bothers you that there are people without self-control, or that those people might want to do something about it, or that lh.com might want to help?

What's wrong with this picture? Well, now that you've managed to insult all the people in the world who struggle with procrastination, thereby making them feel worse about themselves... a little bit more than before you started typing.

Anyone here besides me still using Konfabulator / Yahoo Widgets?
