Unease, nostalgia, ecstatic joy, confusion, sarcasm, humor and incisiveness all blended in prefect proportion. The Doors, the Dead, The Byrds etc… all were trying to capture California of the late 60s and none were as evocative as Love. This album is deeply pessimistic and somehow deeply hopeful all at once. It's

Yeah, once you go coldbrew, you can't go back. I make a week's worth with each batch and store it in the fridge. Dilute and microwave every morning, couldn't be easier. The result is by far the smoothest, most flavorful coffee you can make. Sidenote: I don't know why people assume cold brew must be served as iced

This song and "Radio Song" are really the only bad songs on Out of Time. "Near Wild Heaven" and "Texarcana" are my favorites on this album. It's really one of REM's best albums.

Supercuts of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist.

1. Tested isn't really "Adam's Site". It's Will Smith and Norm's site that Adam and Jamie have leant their name and perhaps some funding to.
2. Lots of sketchy, "don't try this at home" moments on this video. Fingers a little too close to machinery, loosly stacked stuff being pushed through bandsaws, no sawdust

Actually, I think Children of Hurin would be the best choice. Unlike the Simarillion, it's actually readable and tells a good (and more than a little twisted) story. But forget all of that, they should do a First Law Trilogy movie.

I disagree about the show "lapsed into self-parody" in the second season. I think the second season is actually the best this show ever got. In particular, I'll call out two episodes: "Where the Buses don't Run" and "Bushido". The former is a surprisingly creepy, claustrophobic and effective "horror" episode about

Batman: B (horribly dated, just enough Burton to get by)
Batman Returns: A- (Burton in his early ninties pomp, DeVito is glorious, Pfieffer is underrated and Walken is Walken)
Batman Forever: C+ (it's bad but the Riddler's bonkers hideout is actually pretty cool)
Batman and Robin: F (it's that bad)
Batman Begins: B+ (good

I agree that the documentary would have benefited enormously from five minutes of "pro cycling 101" to at least establish what a leader is supposed to do, why the team matters so much and whether or not Hinault's "betrayal" was truly a betrayal. As the author points out, the story hinges on these complexities and the

This was the quote that made this interview for me.

Onion movie critic gives a D'Souza film an "F". Note that an 'F" is extremely rare on the AVClub. Note that The Onion's humor has become stridently partisan in the past few years (satire needs to cut both sides of the aisle down to size, guys). Note that the AV Club seems to be a cabal of hipsters (I love it, but

I kind of like this song, but he sure does make a lot of solid points. Also, RATM's first album is incredibly overrated.

Not a very good list. "Murder by the Book" is great (Jack Cassidy was great every time he was on the show) as is "Try and Catch Me" (featuring a very dishy Mariette Hartley), the others are hit and miss. You need: "Any Old Port in a Storm" (Donald Pleasance as a hugely sympathetic murdering winemaker that Columbo

This is a pretty good album, but I think it's more than a little derivative. I hear a lot of Gang of Four, Killing Joke and even U2's first album. I like "Seek Warmer Climes", but I'll take Savages' debut over this one.

I'm of two minds about Fucked Up. On the downside, despite what this review claims, they really only do one thing: 130 bpm, riff-heavy rock tunes with a bellowing Pink Eyes that are equally inspired by Husker Du, classic rock and Ride's early stuff. DCtL was a whole bunch of songs that sounded pretty much the same.

The reviewer seems to be unaware that putting an onus of historical accuracy on a "300" is ridiculous and irrelevant. It's almost as if he has a bigger point to make, perhaps about the present day. However, he's made the point so subtley that I can't quite put my finger on it…

Lots of good suggestions here. Black Uhuru's "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" is my favorite album in this space.

Are you kidding me?  This album is awful.

No Pod People?  Red Zone Cuba?  How about the final episode "Danger: Diabolique"?
