Here’s why coverage of this case has irritated me so — influential people like Shaun King simply outright lying about the particulars.

To be fair, these are just the posts I tend to notice, and there is a lot of helpful stuff on ND too. It’s funny because this is a generally lefty area so those “suspicious character” posts often devolve into arguments about whether or not they’re racist.

I can’t imagine how tough it must be to have a non-verbal kid with such scary health problems.  How can they convey what’s bothering them, and how can you sort those out from normal toddler stuff, and how can you survive blaming yourself for signs you missed or misread?  My heart goes out to these folks.

I think it’s more that the neighbor is a Trump-ish OCD type who is upset that Zillow showed their home value dropping .02% that day and wants to blame someone.

I’m sure he’s yelling at her about it over pancakes as we speak.

Where I live (pretty white area of large diverse city) NextDoor might as well be called the Brown People Alert System. As in “Suspicious looking person knocked on my door, claimed to have car trouble, I wouldn’t open the door.  Be on the lookout for them.” Suspicious always boils down to non-white.

In case you didn’t click all the way through the Instagram shots, when Anderson reminds Swarzak that she’s well aware that whites aren’t the only ones committing crimes because she runs a nonviolence non-profit in Southside Chicago, Swarzak replies:

On one side we have Lucas Giolito, whose grandfather played George Costanza’s almost-father-in-law who once had an affair with John Cheever. On the other side is Anthony Swarzak who seems to be an asshole.

Was this just an opportunity to tell a cute story about your daughter?  Which to be honest is pretty darn cute.

If you read the details, she didn’t act in self-defense, she killed a man while he slept and stole his stuff.  I’m not sure exactly why she became a cause celebre.  I think some legal aid organizations were correctly upset that she was tried as an adult and given such a harsh sentence, and then things got distorted a

Seriously though.. this is a rookie hazing kind of thing?

And yet, many people are arguing that.  I can only think it’s Rihanna’s influence.

Here’s a piece about her case where they argue that she should never have been convicted, but fail to mention that she shot Allen in his sleep.

The prosecution showed pretty convincingly that she wasn’t acting in self-defense. The deceased was asleep in his bed.

Why should she have been pardoned?  She was 16 and had lived a tough life, but murdered a man in his sleep.  That seems serious.

What is true: Cyntoia Brown was a victim of overly harsh sentencing laws, given what was damn close to a life sentence when there are not supposed to be life sentences for teens. This clemency decision was a fair one.

Does that mean he’s running the Keurig several times per 20-oz cup?  Or does he just drink weak-ass coffee and the 20-oz thing is a front?

“I hate all kinds of hate.  Nazis, and people who hate Nazis.  I hate them all.”

He’s just a fucking asshole.

“Bellbrook High School is small. According to Daniel, there were fewer than 1,000 students at the school when he and Cofer attended, and his graduating class only had 199 students.”
