Agreed. It’s crazy how these people seem to think men are always taken seriously as musicians while women never are. Was Motley Crue a critically acclaimed band known for their songwriting?

I don’t know. Feminism seems pretty cool these days. Well a certain type of feminism, that is. I think, on the whole, the embrace of feminism by these women has helped their careers.
I mostly agree it would be a good thing but I wonder how effective it would be. Pop music has long been about catchy songs by attractive performers. It’s hard to think of a pop singer, male or female, who isn’t convetionally attractive. There are some, but they are definitely the exception. Would One Direction have…
He should share the blame with every other Democrat and Republican. But just because he supports the terrible status quo doesn’t mean he should be free from criticism. Every time Obama talk about ISIS or democracy or human rights, he is a full of shit hypocrite until he treats Saudi Arabia the same way he treats Iran…
The problem I have is how she seems to think she became famous on her musical ability alone. She should check her “attractiveness privilege”, so to speak.
I believe they do but you won’t find them in either of the two major parties.
Except the cozying up to SA is a bipartisan affair.
Damn Republicans!
OMG! Tina Fey would like be my best friend in real life! I looooove her! And Jennifer Lawrence and Taylor Swift too! I know we would all be such good friends! They are all so relatable and clumsy and uncool, just like me. We’re all such NERDS! HAHAHA.
Uh oh. You can never, ever, ever, tell a rich white woman her problems pale in comparison to those of most people throughout the world. Her problems are always the most important issue in the world, and you’re just a stupid entitled man if you don’t see it.
Good one.
I seriously don’t understand why whenever someone criticizes Obama or a democrat, some people immediately ask who would be better.
The second paragraph, is like my opinion, bro. Do you feel the need to include a preamble of the subjectivity of art before every sentence in which you give your opinion? I mean, you said the Duke was more ridiculous than the meat dress. Are you saying there is a basis upon which music can be obectively judged?…
She is criticizing the sexism of the music industry, while lacking any awareness that the sexism of the music industry is the reason she is famous.
Yeah. I consider a meat dress more ridiculous than the Think White Duke. I was talking about fashion, so the love symbol is irrelevant. Either way, this is music and art so it’s all subjective. No need to get so offended.
I think a lot of people consider someone very talented if they can sing or play an instrument or two. You would think Lady Gaga was freaking Aretha Franklin reading some of the comments in this thread.
Good for you
You disagree with a fact? Good for you.
David Bowie is respected as a musician. Many don’t respect Lady Gaga as a musician.
If you make trite pop music and get most of your attention for over-the top-costumes, then some people won’t take you seriously as a musician.
