All that technologically and they use ‘tape pulls’. Why not have some sort of vents that are automatically opened/closed as needed? 

I’m not sure how much engine type info they can relay with the current system, but I know you can easily get the ship’s name, speed, course, tonnage, destination, county of origin etc.

Tracking and monitoring is already pretty cheap and easy with the current Global Positioning Satellites (GPS). What is really needed now is cheap internet access. Currently for a ship to have satellite internet access with decent connection speeds they need to spend at least $25k on equipment and another $10K a month…

I sail offshore a lot and not having internet is a pain in the arse. Although I do have a Garmin Inreach on the Iridium satellite network which gives me the ability to text anyone, anytime, anywhere. But having true, high speed internet access would be a life changer, if not a life saver.

I got picked up in a 2012 Chevy Malibu the other day, (Seattle). It was clean, comfy and very roomy. The driver said he only paid $5000 cash. He couldn’t justify a newer/nicer car (or a car payment) for a vehicle he was driving into the ground. He was also playing Citizen Cope. 5 stars.
